I’ve worked for Devon Early Years and Childcare Service since 2002. I started as a district coordinator supporting early years and childcare settings in West Devon and South Hams. In 2011 I moved to Children’s Centre Support for the South and West Devon.
I now cover the whole of Devon. The job is varied and interesting and no two days are the same.
I’ve been given opportunities to extend my training over the years and have completed an NVQ 3 in Playwork; NVQ 4 in management, plus many short training courses to extend my knowledge and professional skills whilst in post.
I’m currently being supported by Devon to undertake a modern apprenticeship ‘CMI diploma in organisational leadership and management’ as part of my job role.
This involves funded day release from my role with 20% of my time being spent in college.
This will give me a professional qualification and help me to further progress in my career which will be beneficial to Devon, service users and myself.
