I started working for Devon County Council’s Legal Service in February 2017 as a Business Support Assistant. I gained valuable experience while undertaking this role which meant that I was able to apply for the role of “Apprentice; Paralegal” when it was advertised for the Litigation Team and was successfully recruited due to the experience I had already obtained.
I now have the opportunity to work on a variety of criminal and civil litigation cases, whilst also working towards my paralegal qualification through the apprenticeship scheme. The work we undertake is incredibly varied and wide-ranging and I feel like I am supporting Devon County Council to effectively deliver its services to the public.
Working for Devon County Council provides a flexible lifestyle. I am able to work from home if required and the hours we work are flexible, helping contribute to a healthy work/life balance.
I also feel that working for Devon County Council provides good opportunities for progression and as a result, I now have an exciting career path ahead of me.
