Developing Reasoning in Secondary Mathematics

Three separate afternoon courses to focus on developing reasoning alongside the following: Numbers, algebra and geometry

The recent changes to the GCSE curriculum have put an increased focus on mathematical reasoning. These sessions will explore practical strategies and pedagogies to integrate mathematical reasoning into everyday classroom practice at both KS3 and KS4, while also building students understanding of mathematics content.

Participants will receive resources to support the development of the strategies when they return to their school

  • Course aims – through the meetings participants will:
    • Consider what it means to reason mathematically
    • Explore strategies and pedagogies to develop and assess mathematical understanding
