Supporting children in maths lessons package

This package will explore how children can best be supported to develop their mathematical thinking and so understand the mathematics. It will include an examination of the five big ideas of teaching for mastery. There will be a particular focus on understanding the connective model including how representation can be used to support understanding of structure, and on the role of the adult.

Each of the three half-day sessions is designed to stimulate thinking about how to support and challenge children in the classroom. There will be gap tasks to undertake with children between sessions one and two and sessions two and three.
