Supporting Children Who Struggle in English

This package involves attending a half-day session which will provide you with guidance and training on:

  • Identifying children early
  • Barriers to learning
  • Factors affecting development
  • General and specific issues relating to English
  • Using diagnostic assessments
  • Practical ideas for organising and managing interventions
  • Information about relevant training opportunities

A further half-day session for each school. The adviser will visit each school for an additional half-day session which can be tailored to the needs of each school. This might include:

  • Reviewing current practice and identifying needs
  • Working with a specific child to identify issues and misconceptions
  • Follow up support or training for an intervention
  • Specific subject knowledge training
  • Advice and guidance for supporting children who struggle with English
  • Different models for intervention
  • Tailored support to individual schools based on their need
