Cyber crime and general data protection regulation masterclass: Why you need to be ready – Thursday 21 September 2017
Given the approach of increased Data Protection requirements (GDPR) and the continued onslaught of cyber-attacks affecting both private and public sector organisations, we are running a ‘Cyber Crime and GDPR – Why you need to be ready” masterclass for Headteachers, Senior Leaders and Governors of schools and academies in the South West.
The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will form part of UK Law from 25 May 2018 and whilst its requirements are similar to the UK Data Protection Act, there are new elements and significant enhancements, which include a fine of up to 2% of your annual turnover or 10 million Euros for non-compliance. The new GDPR, will impose a duty on all organisations to report certain types of data breaches to the Information Commissioner’s Office within 72 hours, and in some cases to the individuals affected.
Given these new requirements and the rising number of cyber-attacks, which lead to organisations losing sensitive, personal data, there has never been a more important time to take action to ensure that your school is adequately responding.
This unique masterclass brings together expert keynote speakers from the world of Data Protection and Cyber Security to help you ensure that your school safeguards its information, as well as its reputation. The event will conclude with an exclusive Q&A panel session.
"Weeks run from Monday to Sunday. Please note that weeks without communications to schools are ignored and the links will go to the last week where a communication was made in this category."
