Leadership masterclass with Andy Buck: Making the biggest impact on pupil outcomes | Tuesday 22nd May 2018 | Mercure Southgate Hotel, Exeter
Every school leader wants to do the very best for the pupils they support. But in the midst of a busy day or meeting, decision-making can sometimes become rushed. Without meaning to, a leader’s intuition or emotions can have an unhelpful influence.
This masterclass will explore how school leaders tend to make decisions and how unconscious bias can affect this process. Drawing on the work of Kahneman and Tversky, the session will then suggest some practical day-to-day strategies that can help leaders create the mental space, objectivity and confidence required to keep pupils at the heart of their decision-making processes.
We all know having difficult conversations is an essential part of leadership in any school. But this doesn’t make having them any easier.
The masterclass will include some practical techniques that will make these conversations both easier and more effective.
"Weeks run from Monday to Sunday. Please note that weeks without communications to schools are ignored and the links will go to the last week where a communication was made in this category."
