A39 Fairy Cross to Knotty Corner
Work will take place between Fairy Cross and Knotty Corner on the A39 from 10 September to 2 November 2018.
The road will be closed from 1 to 19th October between 7.00pm and 7.00am with a signed diversion route in place. A plan of the diversion route can be seen here.
What are we doing?
The road will have new drainage, kerbing and vehicle restraint systems installed and be completely resurfaced.
The main surfacing work is expected to take up to 19 days and is planned for 1 to 19 October 2018. In order to minimise the length of the closure, most of the drainage and kerbing work will be carried out in advance under temporary traffic lights.
The vehicle restraint system works will take place for up to 2 weeks after the resurfacing is completed, under temporary traffic lights.
Why do we need to close the road?
The narrow width of the site does not have sufficient space for vehicles to pass the plant being used to carry out the work.
Why is there such a long diversion route?
We have a duty to direct traffic along a similar or higher classification of road to that being closed so that all vehicles, including large articulated vehicles, can safely navigate the diversion routes.
Gatesmen will be provided at the closure points and within the work site to ensure that there is no unauthorised access through the site and to assist residents within the closed section.
