Improving Health Based Places of Safety Funding Opens for Round 2
Capital funding is available for local crisis care concordat groups (public sector and third sector organisations) to improve the provision, capacity and quality of health based places of safety to better support people detained under section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983.
The grants (there are no minimum or maximum amounts) will enable NHS providers, Local Authorities and third sector organisations, as agreed by their local Crisis Care Concordat group, to provide new and improved health based places of safety and mental health crisis support facilities across England.
The total amount of funding available under this scheme is £15 million. A total of £6.1 million was awarded in Round 1 to 15 NHS trusts and partnership organisations covering 10 police force areas. This leaves nearly £9 million for Round 2. Funding is available for the financial years 2016/17 and 2017/18. All funding must be spent before 31 March 2018.
