Devon County Council, in partnership with Dartmoor National Park, South Hams District Council, Teignbridge District Council and Torbay Council, are consulting on a draft…
‘South Hams Special Area of Conservation Greater Horseshoe Bats Supplementary Planning Document’
The document is being prepared to provide guidance on the implementation of policies relating to the South Hams Special Area of Conservation, specifically on the population of greater horseshoe bats for which the site is (in part) designated.
The document updates and replaces the South Hams Special Area of Conservation Greater Horseshoe Bat Consultation Zone Planning Guidance published by Natural England in 2010.
The Consultation begins on 16th April 2018 and finishes on 13th June 2018 at 5pm.
(Please note the extended consultation date).
Responses to the consultation should be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm on 30th May 2018. Responses made after this time are not able to be taken into account.
Full details of the consultation can be found in the documents below.
Responses received and a series of FAQs will be posted here throughout the consultation.
Please note that all submitted representations will be made publicly available, including on the County Council’s website, with the person/organisation making the representation (but not their personal signatures or email and telephone contact details) being identified.
An open drop-in event was held on Tuesday 1st May, between 2 and 6pm at the Dartmoor National Park Offices.
Please note that the majority of the Advice Notes that are being produced to sit alongside the SPD will be factual and include:
- Advice on Habitats Regulations Assessment and template
- Greater Horseshoe Bat Ecology
- Mitigation (current best practice) including separate Advice Note on lighting
Partners will be given the opportunity to input into these Advice Notes.
The Advice Notes will not be available during the SPD consultation. These will be informally consulted upon at a later date.
An Advice Note on Survey is also being developed and, whilst this is not part of the SPD, an informal consultation will take place to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to comment on the survey specification being recommended.
