Back copies of staff bulletins:

Dear colleague

In this month’s bulletin we receive the latest update from the Children’s Safeguarding and Improvement Board – there is a Local Government Association Peer Review that will take place 13-17 October 2014 to provide a further independent assessment of progress made and areas for improvement.

And we include the recent letter to teams from Fiona Fitzpatrick, Interim Head Children’s Social Work and Child Protection.

Don’t forget that Fiona has set up a new mailbox called Principal Social Work – Mailbox if you have anything you would like to raise with Fiona or the Senior Management Team.

Update from Children’s Safeguarding Improvement Board

Professor Ray Jones stated that while it is recognised that progress is being made, he expects to see data trends showing more improvement by October.

Ray also acknowledged the considerable achievements of the Devon Safeguarding Children Board (DSCB), with real momentum behind their work. In particular he praised progress being made by the Board in getting out and about and establishing contact between agencies, and in developing sub-groups. Keep up-to-date with current news in the DSCB newsletter.

Ray also noted how across the county social workers and others were very busy in supporting families and protecting children, and that this echoed the national picture of increases in child protection work over the past five years.
