Bromleys café story collecting day at the Pop Up Museum

Posted on: 18 June 2018

The museum is preparing its new social history gallery, gathering stories about living and working in North Devon and Barnstaple. We are currently looking at town and country life, including shops, cafes and pubs.

We are collecting stories about Bromleys Café and would love for you to come along and share your memories. Were you a member of staff or a regular customer? Did you attend any events or functions there? Can you remember the items on the menu?

On Tuesday June 26th between 10am and 12pm, come to the Pop up museum at Bridge Chambers to meet Michael Bromley and our volunteer story collectors. Please share your story with us over a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Executive Member for Health and Wellbeing, Councillor Brian Moores, says: “Even though the museum is operating out of a temporary space for the time being, they are still holding great events we hope that visitors will want to get involved to share their memories and stories of North Devon and preserve them for generations to come.”

The Pop up is now open Monday to Saturday 10 am to 5pm so if you can’t make it on June 26th you are welcome to come in on another day to share stories and memories with us. As the main museum building is now closed to the public in anticipation of the building works, the Pop up also houses the Tourist information centre and a small shop plus National Express coach ticket sales.

Please visit the Pop-Up museum to find out more, share your story with our volunteer story collectors, or join us as a community expert. You can also visit the Facebook page at PopUpBarnstaple.
