Council to collect garden waste fortnightly during November

Posted on: 9 January 2018

Residents who are registered for North Devon Council’s garden waste collection service will this year receive fortnightly collections up until December.

At a meeting of the council’s Executive yesterday (Monday 8 January), members agreed that two-weekly collections should continue through November, only going to four-weekly during December and January. Residents who sign up for the service will also receive a timetable showing when their collections are to take place.

Executive Member for the Environment, Councillor Rodney Cann says: “We have listened to our residents, many of whom felt that November was too early to move to four-weekly collections, and responded by making the decision to reduce our winter schedule this year. It remains the case that less garden waste is produced during the winter months, but as we have had mild winters for the last couple of years our customers have asked us to continue collecting garden waste fortnightly until the end of November, as they clear their gardens of autumn leaves and windfall. I hope this decision will show residents that we take their feedback seriously and respond to concerns accordingly.”

You can sign up for garden waste collections on North Devon Council’s website www.northdevon.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling or by calling customer services on 01271 374776.
