Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon burgled
Posted on: 28 November 2017
At 1.30am on Monday (27 November) thieves broke into the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon. They smashed a glass cabinet on the first floor of the museum and stole two boxes of commemorative gold coins with a value of approximately £15,000. Other artefacts displayed in the same case were damaged during the raid, but nothing other than the coins has been taken.
Police are now studying CCTV footage of the break-in and are following a number of leads that may help to catch those responsible. The museum will be up and running for normal business from Tuesday (28 November).
