Fancy a batty evening at Bicclescombe Park?

Bat in mid-flight

Experience Ilfracombe’s award-winning park in the dark tonight, with an evening of bat hunting for all the family to enjoy.

Join North Devon Council’s parks team for a bat talk and walk at Bicclescombe Park from 7pm on Wednesday 13 September. The evening will begin with a brief talk and presentation in the tea rooms at Bicclescombe Mill, by Sam Pickering from North Devon Bat Care. This will be followed by a guided walk around the park, in search of signs of bat habitation.

The event is free and suitable for all ages, however under 14s must be accompanied by an adult. Wear clothing and footwear suitable for the weather and bring along a torch.

Executive Member for Parks, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Dick Jones, says: “This should be a fun and informative evening for anyone interested in learning more about the nocturnal wildlife in Bicclescombe Park. During the day it’s obvious the park is a haven for wildlife, but this is a unique opportunity to discover how the park also comes to life at night.”
