Family fun at Yeo Valley Woodland open day

Posted on: 11 September 2017

An open day is to take place at Yeo Valley Woodland this weekend.

Join North Devon Council’s Parks team and the Friends of Yeo Valley Woodland for a day of fun at Barnstaple’s Green Flag status woodland on Sunday 17 September from 10am to 3pm.

The open day will include plenty of activities and entertainment for children and adults alike, such as birds of prey and falconry displays, bouncy castles, nest box-building and woodland craft demonstrations.  You can meet Ranger Russ and get close up to his animals, and have a go at some butterfly-themed activities with Mrs Recycle.

Executive Member responsible for parks, leisure and culture, Councillor Dick Jones, said: “This open day will be a fun family day out, with plenty of events for everybody to enjoy. Yeo Valley Woodland is a wonderful community space, and events like this give us a great excuse to get out and explore it.”

Local ward member for Yeo Valley, Councillor Ian Roome said: “This will be a great day out for all the family in our award-winning woodland. Friends of Yeo Valley Woodland work hard to maintain this beautiful area, and I hope that many local residents will attend the open day and support them to continue doing their valuable work.”

Yeo Valley Woodland is located at Silverwood Heights, Barnstaple. There is no parking at the woodland, but visitors coming by car are advised to park considerately in Derby Road and walk to the woodland.
