Off to the North Devon Show we go
Posted on: 19 July 2017
The North Devon Council stand for this year’s North Devon Show is nearly ready.
The main focus this year is to provide advice and information about the project to ‘recycle more’ across the district which will include:
- advice on what recycling goes in which container
- tips for dealing with food waste
- information about the new garden waste service
- information on waste reduction
As well as this, visitors to the stand will be able to:
- let their kids have a go at the ‘make a treasure box’ activity
- get advice about other customer services
The show is taking place on Wednesday 2 August at Umberleigh Barton Farm, Umberleigh.
Chairman of North Devon Council, Councillor Sue Croft, says: “I’m delighted to be going along to the North Devon Show again this year – it’s a favourite and I wouldn’t miss it. It’s a great day out for everyone and provides a perfect opportunity to meet and listen to local residents and to provide information to them and answer their questions about our services. I look forward to meeting lots of people on the day.”
Lead Member for the Environment at North Devon Council, Councillor Rodney Cann, says: “This year the main focus of our stand is ‘recycle more’. By 2020 we need to be recycling 50% of our waste so we will be available on the day to provide advice and tips about how to do this. While you’re with us, have a go at our kids ‘make a treasure box activity’, can you guess what it used to be?”
The council stand will be located in the trade stand area. It will be open from 9am-5.30pm – keep a look out for the flags.Posted in: Leisure
