Pupils have fun at official re-opening of playground

Pupils from Southmead School in Braunton officially opened the refurbished Pill Gardens play area on Wednesday 29 March.

North Devon Council’s parks team worked alongside the school to help choose the types of new play equipment they wanted to see installed at Pill Gardens, so when the time came to officially reopen the play area, who better to do it than the pupils themselves?

Mark Kentell, Contracts Delivery Manager for North Devon Council, says “We are pleased that the refurbishment of Pill Gardens play area was a community project and would like to thank the children for their ideas.  Hopefully they will all enjoy using the play area for many years to come.

The £43,000 play area was funded by section 106 contributions from housing developers as part of the planning conditions of planning applications.
