North Devon Council has won the Best Performing National Land Information Service (NLIS) Level 2 Local Land Charges Department award at the 2017 Land Data Local Land Charges Awards for Excellence. This is the third time the land charges team have won the award, after winning in 2013, 2014 and being highly commended in 2012.
The national awards, which are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, are designed to recognise the work and achievements of local authority local land charges departments, which carry out land and property searches required for property transactions throughout England and Wales.
In honour of the 10th anniversary, there was a special award for Best Local Land Charges Department of the last 10 years, and the team were also runners-up for that award.
The winners of the awards were announced on Monday 6 March at an awards dinner held in Bristol, presented by TV and Radio broadcaster Kaye Adams.
North Devon Council Leader, Des Brailey, says: “I would like to congratulate our Local Land Charges team in winning this award, which reflects their hard work, dedication and commitment. Not only is this national recognition for our officers, but it sends out a clear message to the conveyancing community and homebuyers that, when it comes to land searches in North Devon, they can be assured of excellent service”
The Best NLIS Level 2 Local Land Charges Department of the Year category awards the best performing local land charges department between June and November 2016. The judging of this award is based on the highest overall percentage of NLIS electronic search volumes, the fastest electronic turnaround time, the ration of overdue searches versus search volumes over the given period and whether the local authority proactively advises NLIS of any service issues such as technical problems.
The Local Land Charges Awards for Excellence are awarded by a panel of judges from Land Data, the Local Land Charges Institute, NLIS, SearchFlow and Thames Water Property Searches.
