Invitation to attend dedication service at Crematorium
Posted on: 8 November 2016
A service of dedication will be held at the new chapel at North Devon Crematorium next week.
On Saturday 12 November, the Bishop of Exeter will perform an Ecumenical (Christian) dedication service at the crematorium’s new 250 seat Rowan chapel.
The 2pm service will be supported by the Voice Community Choir, followed by a commemorative tree planting, light refreshments and an opportunity to view the facilities.
Chairman of North Devon Crematorium Joint Committee, Councillor Simon Inch, said: “The Rowan chapel opened in April and is a wonderful new facility for our local community. Normally we only visit the crematorium at times of great sorrow, so this is an opportunity to take a look at our new facilities and join in with our dedication service, which will be a service of thanks and remembrance, to which all are welcome.”
The new chapel links to the existing crematorium building and is designed to accommodate large services. The original chapel has also been refurbished and is still available for smaller, more intimate services. The project was funded by the North Devon Crematorium Joint Committee, which is made up of North Devon and Torridge District councillors.
If you would like to attend the service please arrive no later than 1.50pm on Saturday 12 November. Space is limited to 300 people. North Devon Crematorium is on Old Torrington Road, Barnstaple, EX31 3NW. Disabled parking is available.Posted in: Community
