Museum on the lookout for artists and filmmakers

Posted on: 4 November 2016

The hunt is on for North Devon’s finest artists to feature in the 15th North Devon Open Art Show.

The show, run by the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon, is open to amateur and professional artists working in all types of media. The chosen artists will have their work displayed as part of the popular art exhibition, running at the museum throughout January and February 2017.

Work will be considered in any media including paint, mixed media, glass, sculpture, textiles, digital art, sound, installation, ceramics and film. Contributors should either be local residents, or the work should be created or inspired by northern Devon, Exmoor and Lundy Island.

Executive Member responsible for leisure and culture, Councillor Dick Jones, says: “The North Devon Open Art Show is always a highlight of the museum’s annual programme of events. The exhibition is a brilliant opportunity for both professional and new artists to showcase their work. If you have a creative talent, please share it with us!”

Closing date for entries is 1 December 2016. The chosen artists will be selected by a panel of judges made up of representatives from the museum, North Devon Arts, PETROC, Quay Drawing and White Moose Gallery. The exhibition of winning submissions runs from 14 January to 18 February 2017.
