More play equipment for another Barnstaple park

The play area at East Park Road in Barnstaple has been given a new lease of life.
North Devon Council has replaced the swings, refurbished the climbing frame and installed a trampoline and new self-closing gates at the park.
The £6,000 to complete the work was made available through S106 contributions from developers and existing parks maintenance budgets.
Executive Member responsible for parks, leisure and culture, Councillor Brian Moores, says: “The amount of play equipment at East Park Road play areas was quite limited so we wanted to enhance the park and provide more choice for children and young people living in the area. I’m sure the new equipment will be put to good use!”
Local ward member, Councillor Suzanne Haywood, said: “What a great improvement of the play area. I am sure the children of Whiddon Valley will enjoy the upgrade.”
*Section 106 (S106) is money paid to the council by developers as part of the planning conditions of planning applications. The money can only be used for certain things, but is used primarily for public open space projects.Posted in: Leisure
