Bulky waste service reviewed

Posted on: 15 March 2016

Changes to bulky waste collections are being made in North Devon from next month.

From Friday 1 April, the pricing structure is changing. Instead of the first collection being free and subsequent ‘standard’ items being charged at £15 each, customers can now have up to two standard items for £15, with further discounts for additional items collected at the same time.

Executive Member for Environment, Councillor Rodney Cann, says: “At the moment, we are only able to offer a limited service as we can’t afford to run a full service whilst offering free collections. We have looked at what other councils are doing and they are able to offer a better service by charging for all items. Therefore, our new charges will bring us more in line with what other authorities can provide, even though our service will still be cheaper than many other councils and we hope people will notice an improved service in the future.”
