Recognition for recycling hero

A member of North Devon Council’s recycling crew has been recognised for his hard work at a county-wide award ceremony.

Martin Kiff, a recycling loader and sweeper for the council, was announced as a runner up in the Collection Crew/Operative category of the Recycle Devon Thank you Awards on Friday (12 February).

Martin was nominated for the award by local residents. The awards brought together recycling heroes from all across Devon.

Martin Kiff, says: “Thank you to everyone who voted for me and especially for my nomination. It was a total surprise to be nominated for going about my day-to-day work.”

Lead Member for the Environment at North Devon Council, Councillor Rodney Cann, says: “I was delighted to attend the award ceremony as Chairman of Devon Authorities Waste Reduction and Recycling Committee, and particularly pleased that Martin was recognised as a representative for North Devon. Martin works hard in the Braunton area of the district keeping the village clean and tidy showing great pride in his work. He’s always smiling and happy.”
