Wall rebuilt at Bear Street cemetery

The rebuilt wall at Bear Street cemetery

Posted on: 15 December 2015

A wall that fell down in stormy weather has been rebuilt at Barnstaple’s Bear Street cemetery.

A 20 metre section of the wall, which separates the cemetery from the allotments, collapsed during a storm earlier this year.

Executive member responsible for parks and open spaces, Councillor Dick Jones, says: “It’s good to see the wall repaired, as we like to keep the cemetery looking tidy. It has taken us a while to repair the wall, so we would like to thank cemetery visitors and allotment holders for their patience.”

The wall has been faced re-using the existing natural stone with a concrete block supporting wall.
