An alternative delivery model

The consultation to explore an alternative delivery model for the whole library service is now closed and the responses are being considered. Results of the consultation will be published on this website in due course.

In response to feedback during the public consultation undertaken from April to July 2014, the Council is exploring a different delivery model for the whole library service that could allow the retention of a professionally managed and run library service and enable communities to have a say in the way services are delivered locally, whilst also making savings. This could take the form of a new social enterprise, mutual, trust and/or charity, which would be commissioned by the County Council. A number of library services around the country have already taken this approach and we are looking in detail at how it could work for Devon.
