Prehistoric Clyst Heath

Timeline Bronze Iron

(KS2: Changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age; Iron Age Hillforts, tribal kingdoms, farming, art and culture; also late Neolithic hunter-gatherers and early farmers)

Before Clyst Heath School was built, archaeologists found a Bronze Age trackway and an Iron Age village by carefully excavating the site of the school building.

A leaflet describing what was found was produced for the school by Devon County Council and Exeter Archaeology and can be viewed here.

Archaeologists also found exciting archaeological remains at the site of Topsham School – read about it here.
