Heritage Open Day at County Hall

On Saturday 12th September County Hall & Bellair were once again open to the public for National Heritage Open Days.

Bill Horner and Marrina Neophytou led a group of 30 around the key areas of architectural and historic interest, including the Council Chamber, the Great Gateway and Bellair’s historic plaster ceilings. Two Exeter Redcoat Guides were on the tour, but thankfully didn’t ask too many challenging questions!

County Hall, which opened in 1964, is a Listed Building of Architectural and Historic Interest; you can see the list entry here. On the 8th of October Historic England will be asking their Twitter followers to let them know their favourite post-war buildings: https://twitter.com/HistoricEngland
