A growing number of heritage organisations across the country are forming themselves into devolved trusts; operating at arm’s length from the local authority but maintaining close links with it, and receiving their core funding through a formal funding arrangement with it.
On 11 December 2013 DCC Cabinet approved the in-principle establishment of a joint Heritage Trust with Somerset Heritage Service, subject to further public consultation and provision of more detailed financial information.
