Devon Heritage Service operates two sites: its headquarters is the Devon Heritage Centre at Great Moor House, Exeter and the North Devon Record Office is in Barnstaple Library. The former Westcountry Studies Library is now managed by the Heritage Service and is to be located at the Heritage Centre. There is a statutory responsibility from the Local Government Act 1972 and the Public Records Act 1958, for us to ensure proper arrangements for any historical documents that belong to us, or are in our custody. The Heritage Service has 17 full time staff and a current net revenue budget of £716,000. Visitor numbers across the two sites total around 10,000 a year.
