Sustainable Drainage Systems Guidance

Devon County Council currently have a responsibility to ensure that technical surface water drainage advice is available to Local Planning Authorities when determining applications for planning permission.

We have drafted advice based on various statutory, non-statutory, and industry best-practice guidance documents relating to the management of surface water, in accordance with the principles of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS). This is presented in the ‘Sustainable Drainage Systems Guidance for Devon’.

We welcome comments on the suitability on the draft guidance from those who may use it as applicants, developers, architects, engineers, or other professionals who are seeking advice on the information required by Local Planning Authorities and the County Council when reviewing planning applications.
