Preparing for Adulthood

Devon County Council and its partners have a responsibility in regard to young people preparing for adulthood, who are likely to continue to have needs into their adult lives. Preparing for Adulthood means getting ready to move from childhood into adult life, it starts when a young person is 14 and may continue until they are 25.

The Children and Families Act 2014 and the Care Act 2014 require new ways of working to ensure young people achieve successful long term outcomes, such as getting a job or going into higher education. The ‘Preparing for Adulthood’ strategy sets out agencies’ intent to meet their obligations and the priorities for the next 12 months. Devon County Council wish to consult with a wide range of individuals to ensure they get it right.

Please read the Draft Preparing for Adulthood Strategy and give us your views by completing the online survey.
