Consultation:

Changes to Specialist Resource Bases in Maintained Mainstream Schools

Devon County Council is reviewing the provision of special educational needs (SEN) resource bases in mainstream schools. Inclusive education is one of the priorities in Devon’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Strategy.  To promote inclusion, we want to have specialist skills and expertise within all mainstream schools.  There has been a shift in parental preference for support within the local school or setting.

We are consulting on the closure of the Speech and Language Resource Base at Newtown Primary School, Exeter and the closure of the Hearing Impairment Resource Base at East-the-Water Primary School, Bideford.

Full details and information on the alternative outreach services are contained within the consultation document, available under ‘Consultation method’ below.

You can respond to the consultation by the closing date of 5pm on 22 February 2019 by emailing: schoolconsultations@devon.gov.uk
