Fund title: Wolfson Foundation
Focus of fund/fund aims:
Capital grants towards projects in the fields of science & medicine, education, arts & humanities and health & disability.
Stage 1 applications 1 July (10 June for secondary education programme)
The Wolfson Foundation provides grants for charities in the UK. Grants are generally given for capital infrastructure (new build, refurbishment and equipment) supporting excellence in the fields of science & medicine, health & disability, education and the arts & humanities. Funding is for larger projects, where total costs are more than £10,000.
There are separate funding programmes based on each theme:
Science & medicine – research, public engagement with science, medical education
Arts & humanities – the foundation aims to support and encourage excellence in the cultural and academic spheres, generally through funding capital projects at museums and galleries, historic sites, educational institutions and performing arts organisations
Education – teaching spaces at universities and secondary schools and, less often, education spaces in cultural organisations, disability charities or those working in the area of public engagement with science
Health & disability – the foundation supports palliative care and hospices, older people and ‘transitions and independence’ with funding for new buildings, refurbishments and equipment for a range of organisations delivering excellent care and support.
The foundation’s website provides detailed guidance on how to apply for funding under each of its programmes.
