Fund title: Smart Local Energy Systems: Concepts and Designs
Focus of fund/fund aims:
To promote the UK as a world leader in low carbon technologies by developing future smart energy systems.
Provided through Innovate UK and drawn from the Prospering from the Energy Revolution Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, this falls under the Clean Growth Grand Challenge which aims to make the UK a world leader in low carbon technologies.
Up to £200,000 is available to businesses to de-risk and support innovation and design towards cleaner energy systems in the UK. Concept and design studies must last a maximum of 6 months and be completed by July 2019 with the best projects invited to develop their ideas further as part of the Prospering from the Energy Revolution Programme.
Smart systems are needed to support clean and affordable energy supply, storage and use, and to join up power, heating and transport to increase efficiency. The energy revolution challenge is a fund for research and development to create these future smart energy systems. The challenge will bring together academia and industry to develop new approaches to providing cleaner energy.
