Fund title: LIFE+ 2017
Focus of fund/fund aims:
To support environment, resource efficiency, nature conservation, biodiversity and low-carbon initiatives.
Deadlines in September 2017
LIFE+ is the EU programme for environment and nature conservation projects. It is divided into two sub-programmes:
LIFE-Environment includes support for environment & resource efficiency, nature & biodiversity, environmental information and governance.
LIFE-Climate Action will support regional low-carbon and climate resilience strategies as well as small-scale climate projects from SMEs, NGOs and local authorities.
The 2017 call for proposals for LIFE Action Grants has been published. Applications can be made by public bodies, private commercial organisations and private non-commercial organisations (including NGOs).
There is support available from the JNCC which is the UK contact point for the LIFE programme. This includes a webinar for UK applicants on 17th May and an Application Writing Workshop in Bristol on 24th May. The JNCC can also ‘pre-screen’ UK projects on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis during July and August.
There is a lot of competition for LIFE+ funding and so projects need to be well-prepared, innovative with a strong focus on sharing and disseminating expertise and good practice.
UK organisations that bid directly to the European Commission on a competitive basis for EU LIFE funds will have any grant awarded underwritten by the Treasury, even when the projects continue beyond the UK’s departure from the EU.
