Fund title: Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator

Focus of fund/fund aims:

Funding and support for technology developers and industry to develop innovative solutions to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, enhance competitiveness and lower costs

Application deadline:

January 2018 (tbc)

Fund description:

The Carbon Trust has announced a new £9.2 million Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator (IEEA) with funding from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. Over the next four years the IEEA will aim to lower costs and increase the number of available energy-efficient technologies for a range of industrial sectors, through demonstration of near-to-market innovations.

The programme is open to all sectors and is technology neutral, targeting near-commercial innovations that will have the largest cross-sectoral impact on industrial energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

The IEEA will support technology developers and industrial players including: tailored incubation support; co-funding; brokerage activities to help industry join forces with technology developers; and a ‘fast track’ process for industrial companies already engaged with a technology developer and looking for funding and advice to help run a demonstration.

Match funding will be required and the level is dependent on whether the work is classified as industrial research or experimental development.

The competition opens in September with the first deadline in January 2018. There is a webinar recording on the website and a series of workshops to provide more information about the programme.
