Fund title: Heritage Lottery Fund: Heritage Enterprise
Focus of fund/fund aims:
To bring together commercial and community interests within heritage-led regeneration projects
Applications under £100,000 can be submitted at any time; see website for deadlines for larger projects
The Heritage Enterprise programme is for projects that seek to achieve economic growth by investing in heritage. It is primarily for enterprising community organisations to help them rescue neglected historic buildings and sites and return them to a viable productive use.
Not-for-profit organisations and partnerships led by not-for-profit organisations can apply for a grant from £100,000 to £5million. The funding can be used to purchase a heritage asset, carry out essential conservation work and bring vacant and derelict buildings back into commercial use. Projects which provide opportunities for people to develop skills and learn about heritage during the lifetime of the project are encouraged.
Priority will be given to projects that are located within areas of the UK experiencing economic disadvantage.
Priority will also be given to projects that focus on heritage assets which are both:
- considered to be ‘at risk’ (e.g. identified on an ‘at risk register’);
- formally designated (e.g. listed or locally listed building, scheduled monument, or in a conservation area).
