The Arts Council has launched Round Four of the Cultural Development Fund for capital investment in transformative place-based creative and cultural initiatives. The aim is to unlock local growth and productivity, increase access to excellent creativity and culture, and regenerate communities.
The Cultural Development Fund will offer capital grants between £2million and £5million to local partnerships led by a local authority, Local Enterprise Partnership, or other appropriate body.
The fund will support places to achieve the following outcomes:
- Unlock local economic growth and productivity
- Become more attractive places in which to live, work, visit and invest
- Strengthen local leadership, partnerships and capability
The fund is intended to support places that have a strategic vision for their development and are committed to culture-led growth but need investment in infrastructure.
The Arts Council is keen to fund places on the list of 109 locations across England that currently have low levels of cultural investment – the Levelling Up for Culture list includes North Devon, Torridge and Torbay.

Capital investment in physical space (construction projects) for culture and creative industries
Application deadline:
Expressions of Interest by 15 March 2024. Full applications by 17 May 2024.
