Funding to advance educational opportunity for young people

The BFSS makes grants for education or training for children and young people up to the age of 25 in the UK and overseas. Priority will be given to projects which widen educational access and opportunity and reduce the barriers to achievement. Priority will be given to projects in areas of deprivation or educational disadvantage.
Funding is allocated to projects involving school construction, teacher training, learning resources and equipment, community and supplementary education including raising aspirations, education for vulnerable children, and ICT.
Applications will be considered from educational or training institutions which have UK charitable status or, in the case of schools, colleges, universities and churches, “exempt charity” status. They should have continuous UK accounts for at least three years.
Funding is intended for time-limited projects (usually up to three years) and the contribution from BFSS should make up a significant proportion of total project costs. Most grants are between £5,000 and £25,000.
