The 30 hours Extended Entitlement starts today!

Welcome back to all those term-time providers that have enjoyed the summer holidays, and to those that are open all year but hopefully managed to get a break.

As you are all preparing to start the new term, the new academic year, welcome new children, you will also be busy preparing for the 30 hours / Extended Entitlement roll-out and new parents that might just be starting to think about their entitlement.

We know that 3171 eligibility codes have been issued in Devon and 2486 codes have been verified by providers (78%).  This will make a huge difference to families with young children and wouldn’t have been achieved without the help of Early Years providers in Devon promoting the 30 hours and raising awareness with their communications with parents.

There have been problems along the way, delays with operational guidance, HMRC technical difficulties and some families are still waiting for codes but we are aware that providers have gone above and beyond supporting and assisting parents any way they can.

We do not underestimate the challenges that providers have overcome to enable them to be able to offer the extended entitlement .The Early Years Service has provided information, advice and support to many of you and I do hope you have found this helpful in preparing for the changes and are feeling confident about the extended offer. Thank you to all of you for all the additional work you have put in to planning for this.

We are  proud of the high quality education and childcare provision we have in Devon and recognise that this is because of the dedication and expertise you all provide  within your local communities. Over 97% of our provision is graded as good or outstanding by Ofsted and this is testament to your on going hard work and commitment to ensuring all our children have the highest quality  learning experiences. We know this is critical to enabling children to have the best start in life and improves their life chances and outcomes. Through this you also provide important  support to parents, enabling them to take up work opportunities feeling confident and reassured that their children are being well cared for.

The Early Years Funding Team will continue to communicate any further updates with you over the next few weeks via the Provider Portal so please do keep yourselves updated.

We wish you every success during the implementation phase.
