Meet the new Early Years Representatives for the Devon Education Forum
The Devon Education Forum is an independent committee of representatives from schools, academies and other non-school organisation. The forum acts as a consultative body or a decision making body on education issues that affect young people aged 0 – 19.
We have two new representatives for Early Years:
I have recently been appointed to the position of Early Years Representative on the Devon Education Forum and I am now looking forward to representing early years settings across Devon.
I have been involved in early years education throughout my career and I have experience of being a KS1 teacher and head teacher in a range of different primary schools in Devon. I have been a governor, set up a community playgroup, employed a nanny, used a childminder and I am currently co-owner of a nursery in Barnstaple which I have owned with a friend for 12 years. I am married with two grown up children and live in Barnstaple.
I hope that these experiences will help me to represent you and the views of our sector.
I have been working in Early Years for over 8 years and have been fortunate enough to gain experience in a variety of settings including schools, preschools, nurseries and children’s centres.
Over the past 4 years I have enjoyed gaining experience in all areas of nursery management including recruitment, quality improvement budgeting and school provision. I am hugely passionate about making a positive impact in our sector and look forward to extending my knowledge in this role.
Outside of work I really enjoy watching films, going to the beach and visiting new places whilst on holiday.
