Graduate Leader Fund
Graduate Leader Fund Guidance 1 April 2016 – 31 March 2017
Devon County Council is continuing to recognise the importance of early years professionals and early years teachers, and for the financial year 1 April 2016 – 31 March 2017 we will continue to provide salary enhancements for qualified EYPs/ EYTs up to a maximum of £2,000. There will also be some funding for supply cover to support Foundation Degree students. The Graduate Leader Fund will be reviewed during 2016/17 and we do not know the longer term future of the funding at this stage.
Please see below details for each funding stream:
Foundation Degree Supply (FDS) Funding
Foundation Degree Supply Funding is available to support settings that do not currently employ a graduate and would like to support a level 3 qualified member of staff to achieve the Foundation Degree in Early Years, with the aim of becoming the early years teacher in their setting. Eligible settings will be able to claim up to a maximum of £500 during the 2016/17 financial year. Funding must be used for supply cover for the Foundation Degree Learner to attend their Foundation Degree programme.
Early Years Professional (EYP) / Early Years Teacher (EYT) Achievement Funding
EYP / EYT Achievement funding is available to support settings that employ a qualified EYP, or a qualified EYT. The Setting can claim a maximum of £2,000 per year (this is paid on a banding process according to the number of hours per week the EYP/EYT is employed to work in the setting) and must be used as a salary enhancement for the qualified EYP/EYT. Settings that fall within the top 30% disadvantaged areas* can claim an additional £2,000 per year for a second qualified EYP/EYT which must be used for salary enhancement and will be calculated in the same way.*Please note that this calculation is based on the amount of children attending the setting that come from a disadvantaged area and not by the setting’s location. To simplify the process for settings that have claimed the EYP /EYT Achievement funding in previous years, there is a continuation form which can be completed if there are no changes to your application from the previous year.
