Staffing Matters
Recruiting and selecting the right staff is fundamental to the success of your business and its ability to deliver high quality childcare. The Staffing Matters document has been designed to help managers, future managers and committees to ensure that their setting approaches recruiting new staff and volunteers, and retaining existing staff in the best possible way.
The Staffing Matters document includes information on the recruiting process, setting timescales, interviews, DBS checks, qualifications, training and much more. Template documents such as sample job descriptions are available for you to make use of – these are designed to help you save time, meet your statutory requirements, and ensure your setting is working to the highest standards.
Please contact us if you are having trouble locating a template or require further information on how to submit a vacancy, recruiting safely or any of the other topics raised within the recruitment pages.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
On 1 December 2012, The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) merged with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) to become the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Please refer to the Home Office website for more information.
If you want to employ a person from Ukraine in your setting they will need a criminal record check. The ‘working with children or vulnerable adults’ document explains how they can obtain this, including an English version.
