The post holder must possess a minimum of a level 2 qualification. The post holder could work under the supervision of a qualified teacher and alongside an Early Years Practitioner who possesses a minimum of a Level 3 qualification or under the Foundation Stage Supervisor or Nursery Manager.
Job Purpose including main duties and responsibilities:
Work under the guidance of the teaching and senior staff using experience and expertise in Early Years, Care and Learning, in an agreed system of supervision to:
- Implement agreed practice with individuals and groups of children, inside and outside the nursery or foundation stage unit
- Work with the teacher and senior staff in the observation, assessment and planning cycle and to manage and prepare resources
- Engage with and support children’s learning and generally support children with set activities, independent problem solving and creative play.
- Supervise children outside usual school hours, including before and after school and at lunchtimes as required.

- Generally assist children in undertaking both adult directed and child initiated activities , interacting with them to support their learning and development
- Regularly contributing towards written observations of a child’s progress, whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Designed for schools that wanted a higher level and more experienced member of support staff to work with the qualified teacher in nursery classes and foundation stage units. This worker can cover PPA time and manage other support staff.
The post holder must have a minimum of a level 3 qualification and a higher level qualification in management or childcare related discipline (or be working towards this).
The post holder will work under the qualified teacher or Nursery Manager.
Job purpose including main duties and responsibilities:
