April Pay Changes 2016
Changes are coming into force this April which could affect how much pay you take home each month:
- Re-enrolment into a workplace pension scheme for eligible staff
- changes to your National Insurance contributions, and
- the introduction of the National Living Wage.
Re-enrolment and automatic enrolment
If you have previously opted out of a workplace pension and are eligible for re-enrolment, you will be re-enrolled into a workplace pension in April. If you have never contributed to a workplace pension, you may be automatically enrolled into a pension.
National Insurance contributions
If you are already a member of a workplace pension scheme, you may see an increase in your National Insurance contributions.
National Living Wage
You may be aware that the Government is introducing a National Living Wage (NLW) from 1 April 2016. This will impact upon Devon County Council employees on Grade A (point 6) and bottom two points of Grade B (point 7 and 8).
It’s important that you are aware of these changes and how they will affect your pay into the future. You can find essential information about these changes here. If you manage any communal areas, please display the poster attached.
