Governance & Compliance 30: National Insurance Budget Plan Update

A number of schools have recently contacted the Education & Learning Team on how they are able to calculate the changes to the National Insurance from 1st April 2016 within their budget plan.

By following the instructions below you will be able to calculate the increase in NI costs to the school by amending your existing budget planning tool.

For those schools that were on the FPS pilot and continue to have access to FPS, the increase in NI rates have already been applied for 2016/17 onwards.

Please note that by amending the NI table within the budget planning tool, this will automatically increase all staffing costs over all years (15/16, 16/17 & 17/18). So before you start please either note down the total staffing costs for 16/17 and 17/18 from your ‘5 yr plan’ tab or create a copy of your budget plan and compare the two different versions.
