General 57: Tax-Free Childcare
Posted on 9 November 2016 by education.finance
You may have recently received a letter from HM Government suggesting to sign up for Tax-Free Childcare. All establishments who are Ofsted inspected would have received this letter – despite it only affecting those establishments which offer childcare or Early Years provision.
This is different to the Childcare Voucher Scheme (those such as Busy Bee Vouchers) where employers have to decide to participate. This scheme will only be open to new parents until April 2018.
This new scheme will help childcare be more affordable for working parents or those that may wish to return to work. This scheme will help pay for wrap-around care for school age children, or Early Years children who exceed their 15 funded hours per week. This will not be managed via the Local Authority but we are encouraging schools to register.
The HMRC have also supplied a Toolkit which we recommend reading first.
The UTR (Unique Taxpayer Reference) mentioned in the letter and the toolkit – will be sent via secure e-mail to those we believe are affected – by the end of next week. If you have not received this email but believe you should have, please feel free to contact us at email@example.com.
