General 10: British Gas Billing Discrepancy

The Procurement department have recently informed the Education & Learning Team that schools in Devon have had a billing issue with British Gas earlier this year. British Gas has compiled a letter explaining this error and have provided contact details should your school be affected. The letter is detailed below:

Dear Customer,

We’d like to make you aware of a billing discrepancy which has affected 487 accounts on the Devon County Council Portfolio. These accounts have been added to a group account 670065037 in error however no bills are being created and sent elsewhere, please be assured that data protection has not been breached.  Due to this issue sites affected are not billing correctly resulting in missing paper bills.

We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. Once it has been resolved, the affected accounts will all be re-billed to their prior set up before the billing discrepancies on the 30th April 2015.  Please expect to receive your invoices in October.

A complaint has been logged by Devon County Council regarding this matter. The complaint is being managed by your Customer Relationship Manager Sean Binnie on complaint reference 5009647933.
