Pupil premium information for adoptive children
The pupil premium for 2016 to 2017 will include pupils recorded in the January 2016 school census and alternative provision census who were looked after by an English or Welsh local authority immediately before being adopted, or who left local authority care on a special guardianship order or child arrangements order (previously known as a residence order). These are collectively referred to as post-LAC in these conditions of grant.
More information can be found in the Pupil premium plus for adopted children document.
Educational psychology support for adopted children
The EPs who work alongside Devon Adoption offer advice and support to adopters, schools and a wide range of professionals who support children who are adopted. We offer consultations to parents and school staff and also whole school training on attachment or other issues related to adoption.
Members of the team use their skills, where appropriate, to support the inclusion of children who are adopted through interventions such as Circle of Friends and Circle of Adults or supervision for staff who are working with complex children.
We frequently contribute to local/regional conferences by running workshops. We are looking to maximise the amount of time we have by working more closely with Devon Adoption to develop training and intervention packages. Our team lead, Louise Goodchild, sits on the Adoption Panel. EP support is accessed through the child’s post-adoption social worker, school or other professionals.
